Ole Fredrik Hvidsten

Ole Fredrik Hvidsten (b. 1986) is from Hvitsten, in Vestby municipality, where as an adult, he has become aware of the place's enormous cultural influence on art history and pop culture. This has in many ways influenced how Ole Fredrik thinks about what art is and can be for society.

Today, Ole Fredrik lives in Oslo in the Bjerke district. Through his studio in Kabelgata, at Økern, his artistry is developing more and more towards creating pockets for social meeting places for artists. As a former co-organizer of the art festival Hvitsten Salong, operator of the artist-run gallery StudioHalv, creator of KultuRute at Wergelandshaugen Cultural Center and an active organizer for cultural development in Økern, Ole Fredrik, in addition to his own practice, has a strong focus on facilitating other actors within art and culture.

In recent years, Ole Fredrik has participated in several group exhibitions, created several exhibitions and had two large solo exhibitions at the gallery Hos_Arne (Oslo) and at Kobbel Kunstbyrå (Kristiansand) where he exhibited between Willam Heimdal and Bjarne Melgård. As an artist, he is multifaceted in expression, but as a person he is locked in like we all are. Life in all its facets is of interest.

In this exhibition, Ole Fredrik explores the relationship between emotions and bodily posture, the urge to escape and static everyday life. The expression is dogmatically presented where the format is essential in relation to the figure. The format helps to keep the shape of the figure and create an intuitive frame in the same way that life has a given direction. In a world where outsideness is becoming more widespread, Ole Fredrik wants to ask the question of whether everyone must be on;
